A GREAT DAY FOR PARKINSON’S & PICKLEBALL

Scott Rider

WHAT A GREAT DAY !

Many of you know that I have been working on a Parkinson’s/pickleball project for nearly 3 years. While Parkinson’s/pickleball may sound like an oxymoron the facts suggest that the Parkinson’s community can benefit greatly from the pickleball community and the pickleball community can benefit greatly from the Parkinson’s community. Hang with me as a BIG announcement is right around the corner ! Back to today ! I am in Spokane visiting my son who lives in this amazing city and I receive a phone call from Daryl Nap of Selkirk Sport. Founded in 2014 by Mike and Rob Barnes along with their father Jim, Selkirk is the leading manufacturer of pickleball paddles and equipment. Amazingly Selkirk Sport has been a great supporter of my efforts to bring the Parkinson’s community and the pickleball community together in a very unique way. So why did Daryl call me today ? He called to invite me to lunch (thanks Kate Wilson) and to play pickleball with him at the Selkirk courts near Hayden, Idaho. I quickly checked Daryl’s DUPR rating and when I read 4.560 I quickly decided lunch was the best option ! I had a great lunch with Daryl who is a great person and I learned once again what makes Sellkirk Sport such a great organization. Yes, Sellkirk offers the very best paddles, nets and more. But everyone knows that. What makes Sellkirk Sport extraordinary is the people at Sellkirk who are working hard everyday to serve the pickleball community. People like Daryl Nap ! Thanks for taking time out of your very busy schedule Daryl ! You and your colleagues at Selkirk Sport are quite simply the BEST !

Good morning! Sounds like we should have a pickleball for Parkinson’s fundraiser! I don’t play pickleball but I have Parkinson’s and I would be willing to help! Dianne Hillyer
